Eric Lee Baliles

A man wanted in Patrick, Henry and Franklin counties was recently arrested in North Carolina following a motor vehicle pursuit initiated by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, according to Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith.

Eric Lee Baliles, 43, of Spencer, is being held in the Rockingham County, N.C. jail after allegedly leading authorities on a pursuit that crossed state lines, according to a release.

Smith said that his office, along with Sheriff’s Offices in Franklin and Henry counties, the Virginia State Police and the United States Marshal Service had been searching for Baliles for weeks leading up to his arrest on November 17.

“Baliles was wanted from our jurisdiction for felony breaking and entering and grand larceny, and for a probation violation,” Smith said, and added that Baliles also is named as the accused in felony warrants for recently breaking into a property on Virginia North Carolina Road in the Moorfield Store area of the county.

Smith said that Baliles will be extradited back to Virginia to stand trial in all three counties.
