ServSafe for Food Handlers will be offered Thursday, September 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Spencer Penn Centre in Spencer.
This is a four-hour course on preparing and serving meals to large groups safely, a must for all those family reunions, church socials, fire department and club food events.
Carol Haynes from Franklin Extension Office will conduct the class, which will use the nationally approved certificate program from the National Restaurant Association ServSafe Food Handler curriculum. Participants will learn basic food safety practices for preparing and serving food.
Earn your food handler certificate from Virginia Cooperative Extension. Pre-registration and prepayment are required. The $50 fee includes course materials, book, instruction and certificate.
Spencer Penn Centre has a health department certified kitchen for catering, canning and other cooking needs. Call the Centre at (276) 957-5757 to pre-register.
