PCHS Golf Team Opens Season
The PCHS Varsity Golf Team traveled to Olde Mill Golf Club, Monday, August 4 to compete in a district match. The Cougars finished 4th in the field of 7 with a score of 361. Caleb Vaughn led the Cougars with a score of 86. Ben Joyce shot 89, Parker Roop shot 90, and Carter Gregory shot 96.
Coach Philip Steagall said, “Caleb led us today in scoring in our 1st district match of the season. I look forward to seeing these young men and ladies play this upcoming season.”
Golf Team Ties for Third
The PCHS Golf Team competed at Forest Park Country Club on Thursday, August 7. The Cougars shot 342, putting them in a tie with Carroll County for 3rd place in the district match. Ben Joyce led the team with a score of 80. Parker Roop shot 84, and Caleb Vaughn and Carter Gregory both shot 89.
“Ben played a great round today with a strong finish,” said Coach Philip Steagall. “He had three birdies on his last 5 holes. We played well today and just need to work on our short game to bring our scores down a little more.”
Golf Competes in District Match
The Golf team headed to Great Oaks Country Club, Monday, August 11 coming in 5th. Ben Joyce shot 81, Parker Roop shot 82, Carter Gregory shot 87, and Caleb Vaughn shot 92.
“It was a good team score today. We just need to get more work in 50 yards and in and around the green,” said Coach Philip Steagall.
PCHS Golf Team Competes in Botetourt
The PCHS Varsity Golf Team travelled to Botetourt Country Club Thursday, August 14, shooting 342 in the district match. Floyd County won the match with a score of 285. Parker Roop shot 79, Carter Gregory shot 85, and Ben Joyce and Caleb Vaughn each shot 89.
“Parker played really well today, especially on the back 9, shooting 1 under on his round,” said Coach Philip Steagall.
