Varsity Softball Gets Win at Home
The PCHS Varsity Softball team hosted Chatham on Tuesday, April 14. The Lady Cougars had 15 hits in a 12-4 win over the Lady Cavaliers.
Hayden Lawless and Jenna Woods each had time in the circle, with Woods getting the win. Journey Moore had 2 hits with a grand slam and 5 RBIs. Lacey Sutphin had a double and a triple. Lawless had 2 doubles. Lauren Hazelwood, Chloe Hubbard, Taylor Lawless, and Woods had 2 hits each. Ava Hiatt added a double in the win.
Varsity Softball Defeats Glenvar
The Lady Cougars defeated Glenvar at home, 10-0, on April 16.
Jenna Woods had a dominant pitching performance, striking out 7, allowing 2 hits, and 0 earned runs. Lacey Sutphin had 2 hits and 5 RBIs including a base clearing double to end the game in the 5th. Chloe Hubbard, Taylor Lawless, and Lauren Hazelwood each had 2 hits each. Aubreigh Large, Hayden Lawless, Ava Hiatt, and Journey Moore all had hits in the win.
PC Girls Varsity Soccer Update
The Varsity Girls Soccer Team had three games last week, getting a win, a loss, and a tie. PC traveled to Martinsville getting a 3-1win over the Lady Bulldogs. Kyra Titular had 2 goals, and Abby Pendleton had 1 goal. Sydney Tatum and Lexus Owen had 1 assist each. Skye Ayers had 3 saves in goal.
The Cougars hosted Radford ending in a 3-3 tie. Titular had all 3 goals for PC assisted by Sydney Tatum and Camille Gonzalez. Ayers had 4 saves in goal.
The Lady Cougars ended the week with a 1-9 loss to Glenvar at home. Titular scored 1 goal and Ayers had 15 saves.

PC JV Baseball Beats Bassett
The PC JV Baseball Team finished a rain delayed game against Bassett, Wednesday, April 15. The Cougars won a decisive 11-2 game that was continued from March 27 where PC was holding a 4-1 lead. Caleb Vaughn had 1 hit and 2RBIs. Levi Hankins had 1 hit, and 3 base on balls. Charlie Tabor, Jaxon Handy, Ben Joyce, and Brent Errichetti all contributed hits in the win. Tabor went 2 innings on the mound, striking out 3 and allowing no hits and no runs. Ayden Garcia went 2 innings with no hits, no runs, and striking out 4. Levi Hankins threw 1.1 innings allowing no hits, no runs, and striking out 4.
JV Baseball Wins at Hooker
The JV Cougars traveled to Hooker Field, on Tuesday, April 14, to take on Martinsville. Patrick County started the game with a six-run 1st inning and added 10 in the 2nd to cruise to a 18-8 victory over the Bulldogs. Ian Baker had 2 hits, 2 runs, and 3 RBIs. Ian Martinez had 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs. Ben Joyce had 2 hits, 2 runs, and RBI. Levi Hankins threw 1.1 innings, striking out 4 and allowing 0 runs. 0 runs. Brent Errichetti pitched 1 inning, allowing 0 runs, and Ayden Garcia had 3 strike outs and allowed 0 runs in 1 inning on the mound.
JV Baseball Beats Halifax
The JV Cougar Baseball Team hosted Halifax, on Monday, April 13. The Cougars got a hard fought 14-12 win in the contest. Patrick County’s bats came out blazing with 9 runs in the 1st inning only to surrender the lead in the top of the 7th as Halifax scored 7 runs to take a 12-11 lead.
With 2 on base in the bottom of the frame, Charlie Tabor ended the game with a towering 3 run walk off homerun for the 14-12 victory. Levi Hankins got on base 5 times with 3 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs, and 3RBIs. Ian Baker and Jaxon Handy had 2 hits and 2 runs each. Charlie Tabor had a home run and 4 RBIs. Tabor went 3.2 innings on the mound allowing 0 earned runs and striking out 5.
JV Softball Gets Win over Glenvar
The PCHS JV Softball Team got a 5-0 win over Glenvar at home, on Thursday, April 16. Addy Foley put the Lady Cougars on the board in the bottom of the 3rd with a double and and RBI. She finished the game 2-3 with 2 RBIs. Foley started the game in the circle, striking out 5, walking 1, and giving up 0 hits and 0 runs in 5 innings. The Lady Cougars were perfect in the field with no errors in the game, led by Carrie Gregory in defense.
