Varsity Sports

Varsity Softball Gets Road Win

The Patrick County Varsity Softball Team traveled to Buchanan, Tuesday, April 21, getting a 9-5 win over the Lady Knights of James River. Journey Moore got the win on the mound, going 4 innings. Jenna Woods threw for 3 innings. Taylor Lawless had 2 doubles with 3 RBIs. Lacey Sutphin had 2 hits with a double with 3 runs scored. Moore had a double with 2 hits on the night. Lauren Hazelwood, Ava Hiatt and Hayden Lawless each had hits in the win.

PCHS Varsity Softball Beats Giles

The Patrick County Varsity Softball Team hosted the Lady Spartans of Giles County, Wednesday, April 22, getting a 4-3 win over the Lady Spartans. Hayden Lawless pitched 5 innings, striking out 5. Jenna Woods pitched two innings, striking out the last 2 in the win. Journey Moore had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Lacey Sutphin had 1 RBI. Hayden Lawless, Taylor Lawless, Chloe Hubbard, Ava Hiatt, Aubreigh Large, and Martina Hubbard each had hits.

The Lady Cougars are currently 11-3 this year.

PCHS Girls Varsity Soccer

The Patrick County Girls Varsity Soccer Team traveled to James River, Tuesday, 21, losing 3-5 to the Lady Knights. Kyra Titular had 2 goals, and Sydney Tatum had 1 goal. Tatum and Camille Gonzalez had 1 assist each. Skye Ayers had 8 saves in goal. The Cougars were on the road at Dan River, Thursday, April 23, where they picked up a 1-0 win over the Lady Wildcats. Tatum had 1 goal, assisted by Kyra Titular. Ayers had 2 saves in goal.

JV Sports

JV Softball Beats Giles

The Patrick County JV Softball Team hosted Giles County, Wednesday, April 22, getting a 18-5 win. The Cougars scored 12 runs in the first inning. Delia Jordan was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Cassidy Brim drew a walk, scoring one run. Savannah Fain singled, scoring one run, Riley Hostetter drew a walk, scoring one run. Savannah Sanchez singled, scoring one run, and Bailey Thompson drew a walk, scoring one run. Addy Foley tripled, scoring two runs, and one run scored on a dropped third strike. Carrie Gregory singled in the 2nd, scoring 2 more runs. Brim was in the circle for PC, striking out 4, walking 3, allowing 0 hits, and 0 runs. Foley threw 1 inning of relief, striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 0 hits.

JV Softball Loses Two in Double Header

The JV Lady Cougar Softball Team traveled to James River, Tuesday, April 21, to play a double header with the Lady Knights. PC fell 6-3 to the Knights in the first game. Foley started in the circle going 4 innings, striking out 5, walking 2, giving up 5 hits, and 6 runs, 1 earned. Sarah Lawson and Deliah Jordan each had an RBI, Brim and Foley had 1 hit each for the Cougars. In the second matchup, Savannah Fain started in the circle for Patrick County in the 2-12 loss. Fain went 2 2/3 innings, striking out 3, walking 1, giving up 11 hits and 12 runs, 6 of those earned. Cassidy Brim and Addy Foley each had one hit. Bailey Thompson had two stolen bases.

JV Baseball Loses Two

The PC JV Baseball Team traveled to James River, Tuesday, April 21, losing 6-3 to the Knights. The Cougars had only 3 hits in the 5-inning game in the first game of the JV/Varsity double header. Ben Joyce had 1 hit and 1RBI. Caleb Vaughn and Jaxon Handy had 1 hit each. Handy went 4 innings on the mound, striking out 3, and allowing 4 earned runs. The Cougars traveled to Tunstall, Wednesday, April 22, losing 2-14 in a 5-inning run rule game. Tunstall scored 1 in the 1st and 6 in the 2nd inning. Brent Errichetti had the lone hit for PC. Charlie Tabor and Levi Hankins crossed the plate for the 2 runs. Joyce threw 2.1 innings in relief, striking out 3 and allowing no earned runs.
