The staffing issue in the Patrick County Clerk of Circuit Court’s office is expected to be resolved within the next few weeks, according to David V. Williams, Chief Justice of the 21st Judicial District.
Williams said he anticipates resolution, but declined further comment.
Patrick County Circuit Court Clerk Sherri Hazlewood is on medical leave; retired Henry County Circuit Court Clerk Vickie Helmstutler has been temporarily fulfilling the duties of the post in Hazlewood’s absence.
Williams declined to discuss Hazlewood’s condition. However, he said she is still receiving her full compensation as does any employee who is out on a medical leave.
He added that Helmstutler is being “paid peanuts,” and agreed to fill-in as a civic servant to help out Patrick County.
