The Patrick County Young Professionals (PCYP) will host the third annual Voter Education & Candidate Forum on Oct. 8.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Virginia Motorsports Museum and Hall of Fame Auditorium, located at 212 Wood Brothers Drive, Stuart.

Candidates scheduled to participate include those in state and local races: State Senate and House of Delegates, Sheriff, Commonwealth’s Attorney, Soil & Water Director, Commissioner of Revenue, Treasurer, Board of Supervisors and School Board.

Erika Cipko, a member of the PCYP, said that the group saw a need and they are trying to fill it. She explained the event aims to connect people with their candidates locally and at the state level.

“We would like to give the voters of Patrick County an opportunity to not only meet but also engage in a dialogue with their local officials and others who serve their county in an educational environment,” the PCYP stated in literature sent to candidates.

The event is offering a structured platform for candidates to convey their messages and introduce themselves to potential voters in Patrick County.

Cipko said a significant turn out is anticipated. “Every year we’ve been lucky enough to fill the Virginia Motorsports Museum and Hall of Fame auditorium.”

The event serves as an educational forum and as a resource to help voters through the voting and registration process.
