STEP volunteers can help taxpayers below a certain income level complete their tax returns. Roseann Lintz, Joan Williams, Beck Hancock and Al Anderson have volunteered to help Yvonne Anderson of STEP (far right) administer the IRS-sponsored free tax preparation program.

Free tax preparation is being offered each Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. through STEP’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program at its Stuart site on Wayside Road.
The service is available to taxpayers earning $54,000 or less, and will available through April 13.
The VITA program is an IRS-sponsored program aimed at helping low-income individuals receive credits to which they are entitled. STEP offers assistance each year with the help of specifically trained volunteers.
Those who want to prepare to participate in the VITA program through STEP need to bring a picture ID, social security cards for all taxpayers and dependents, and all tax-related documents such as W-2s. They should also bring a copy of their last year’s tax return if possible.
Volunteers assisting Patrick County residents file their tax forms are Roseann Lintz, Joan Williams, Beck Hancock and Al Anderson. Yvonne Anderson of STEP said the organization is still accepting volunteers. For more information, call Anderson at (276) 638-8311.
