STEP Inc. participates in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Child and Adult Care Food Program, which provides reimbursements for nutritious meals served to eligible children and adults in participating care programs.

Meals are provided at no separate charge to participants at the following STEP locations:

200 Dent St., Rocky Mount

4559 Wayside Road, Stuart

75 Road 954, Patrick Springs

Participating centers receive free or reduced-price meal reimbursements based on household income. The current income eligibility guidelines are effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

Children who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or who participate in Head Start, may be automatically eligible for free meals. Foster children also may qualify.

For more information about the Child and Adult Care Food Program, contact the Virginia Department of Health’s Special Nutrition Programs team at [email protected] or 1-877-618-7282.
