A 19-year-old Stuart man alleged he was the victim of a strong-armed robbery on Tuesday afternoon, according to a release from Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith.

The man was weed eating at a residence near the roadside in the Ayers Orchard area of the county around 2:45 p.m., at the time, Smith said.

A burgundy Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, bearing an unknown Maryland license plate, stopped near the victim. Two men allegedly exited the vehicle, Smith said. The men were described as in their 40s, possibly of Indian/middle eastern decent, according to the release. One of the men had a beard, it added.

The two men allegedly approached the victim and ultimately demanded money from him.

“The victim felt physically intimidated and cooperated, and gave the suspects all the money he had,” Smith said, adding the two men then left the scene.

The victim was not injured in the incident.

Smith added that the victim alleged there were two small children in the back seat of the SUV.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the two men.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to confidentiality call Smith at (276) 692-7012 or Patrick County Sheriff’s investigator Brian Hubbard at (276) 692-6512.
