Christmas Day held a special gift for Patrick County, as Braden Health announced the dedication of Stuart Community Hospital and the full restoration of hospital and emergency department services, effective Jan. 5.
The reopening reflects Braden Health’s mission to revitalize shuttered rural hospitals across the United States, restoring access to health care in underserved communities and ensuring high-quality medical services are available close to home.
The dedication ceremony will recognize the work to rebuild the hospital, which will be ready to deliver inpatient care and round-the-clock emergency services. The reopening addresses health care gaps in Patrick County and surrounding areas, transforming a long-vacant facility into a resource for local residents.
“This reopening directly addresses the healthcare gaps in Patrick County and neighboring areas, transforming a long-vacant building into a lifeline for residents,” the company wrote in a release.
“Braden Health extends profound gratitude to the dedicated hospital workers—many of whom previously served here and have returned to contribute their expertise and passion. We also thank the Virginia Department of Health for their unwavering support and guidance throughout the process. Special appreciation goes to Delegate Wren Williams for his tireless legislative efforts in preserving the Certificate of Public Need (COPN), a crucial step that paved the way for this successful reopening,” it added.
“We are deeply committed to our mission of breathing new life into rural healthcare facilities, making sure no community is left without essential services,” said Beau R. Braden, DO MPH MS, CEO and Founder of Braden Health. “This Christmas, we celebrate not just the reopening, but the incredible teamwork that made it possible. This is a true community victory, and we can’t wait to serve Stuart with excellence.”
Kyle Kopec, MHA, CCO of Braden Health, said revitalizing Stuart Community Hospital aligns with the organization’s goal of expanding access to high-quality care in underserved areas.
“We’re immensely grateful to everyone involved, from our hardworking team members to key partners like the Virginia Department of Health and Del. Wren Williams, whose advocacy on the Certificate of Public Need was instrumental,” Kopec said. “Our heartfelt thanks to the returning staff — your dedication has turned hope into reality for Patrick County families this Christmas.”
“A true miracle this Christmas Day,” Williams, R-Stuart, wrote in a post on X. “What a blessing for Patrick County & our surrounding counties. Grateful to God for this answered prayer & for everyone who worked to make this possible.”
Additional details about the dedication ceremony, including timing, attendance information and the rollout of services, will be released at a later date.
