A Stuart woman died at the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Patrick County Feb. 23, according to a news release from the Virginia State Police.
Angela Smith Dalton, 52, was driving a 2000 Dodge Caravan west on Rt. 697 (Via Orchard Road) when it ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree, Senior Trooper A.G. Roberts reported.
The crash occurred at 9:45 p.m., one mile east of Rt. 626 (Abram Penn Highway). Dalton was not wearing a seatbelt, the news release stated.
The crash remains under investigation.
Dalton’s death marks the first traffic fatality in Patrick County in 2016.
