Attendance at Patrick County Board of Supervisors meetings and work sessions is open to the public, but the number of people is limited due to the pandemic, County Administrator Geri Hazelwood said.
“There are 25 chairs set up in the courtroom/boardroom for social distancing,” she said.
If more than 25 people attend a meeting, Hazelwood said the county “will accommodate accordingly.”
Meetings are live-streamed and may be viewed on the Friends of Patrick County Tourism Facebook page, something the county plans to continue.
“We plan to continue to live-stream the meetings on Facebook Live as of current. They will continue to be live-streamed after COVID,” she said.
Hazelwood noted that some people have called and expressed “their concerns that they may have some technical issues on their end, and not necessarily on ours, and then they’ll go back and re-watch the recording and they can hear everything just fine. So, I’m hearing some mixed reviews.”
But, she noted, the full live-streamed videos sometimes are not found on the Facebook page due to issues with the internet.
“We had technical issues here in the building. We’re not real sure, and we’ve talked with IT about it, and they can’t seem to pinpoint it. As a matter of fact, everything went down today, and within just a couple of minutes, everything was just back up. Nobody seems understand what has taken place. So, we’re having these issues throughout the day,” she said.
Hazelwood said the complete audio recordings of meetings is available at the county’s website, co.patrick.va.us. To access the audio recordings, click on the meeting recordings under the Board of Supervisors tab at the top left side of the main page.
The available meeting recordings currently range from the March 9, 2020 meeting to February 22, 2021.
