The Patrick County Board of Supervisors will hold its final meeting of 2021, even as many offices remain shuttered.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 9 a.m. in the third-floor boardroom of the Patrick County Veteran’s Memorial Building. It also will be streamed via Zoom. To join, go to https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84999593927.

A public hearing on the proposed Transient Occupancy Tax Ordinance will be held.

The meeting will not include presentations, audit reports, updates on Patrick County Public Schools, or supervisor reports.

Many county offices will remain closed through Monday, Jan. 3 due to a COVID-19 outbreak, according to Geri Hazelwood, county administrator.

An estimated 10 employees have tested positive for the virus, Hazelwood said, and explained that the extended closure is to help ensure others do not contact the virus.

In addition to administrative offices, others affected by the continued closing include the Treasurers and Commissioner of Revenue’s offices and the DMV Select.

Residents are encouraged to visit the DMV in Martinsville-Henry County or use the online system.

The Juvenile and Domestic Relations and General District courts remain open but will close for holidays.

The Department of Social Services will remain open and is accessible by phone at (276) 694-3328.
