The 2019 Patrick County real estate tax statements were mailed Tuesday April 23.

The statement are designed the same as last year: one statement with two payment stubs.

The first half of the 2019 real estate tax is due on June 5, 2019. The second half is due Dec. 5, 2019.

Taxpayers are mailed one notice for each real estate parcel owned and it is up to the taxpayer to bring or mail their payment by each due date. A reminder notice will not be mailed.

Read the statement carefully; each stub states the appropriate amount and the due date. Taxpayers also may opt to pay the annual amount in full by sending both payment stubs, along with the annual amount, by the June 5 due date.

A 10 percent penalty is added to the first half of unpaid taxes on June 6.  Interest at a rate of 10 percent per annum will begin to accrue on unpaid taxes and penalty 26 days after each due date.  An insert is included with the tax statements explaining the real estate due dates.

If you own real estate but do not receive your 2019 real estate tax notice by mid-May, call the Treasurer’s Office at (276) 694-7257.

The Patrick County Treasurer’s Office is located at the Veterans Memorial Building, Room 221 in Stuart.  The mailing address is:  P.O. Box 668, Stuart, Va., 24171.
