Thank you, Patrick County, for saving lives by donating your blood through the American Red Cross. We collected twenty-four units of whole blood and four units of double reds for a total credit of thirty-two units. That translates to helping as many as 96 patients.
The average wait-time for a donor, from check-in to table, was 22 minutes.
Thanks to ALL donors who took time out of their day to do their part to help others in need. Always remember, every donor counts and is gratefully appreciated. Every person who presents makes a difference.
After giving blood the American Red Cross suggests all donors drink an extra 4, 8-ounce glasses of liquids, avoid alcohol in the next 24 hours and do not perform any heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for the rest of the day.
Thanks to the devoted volunteers who worked during the blood drive. They were Betty Holt, Jack Vestal, Jesse Mae Vernon, Patti Bruner, Pauline Tatum, Christine Citrano, Judi Sanburn, Denise Clark, Juanita Mitchell and Mary Lou Hall. Thanks, volunteers, for making all donors welcome and comfortable. We do have a fun time.
The volunteers celebrated Jesse Mae Vernon’s 100th birthday by singing ‘Happy Birthday’ and enjoying cake and cupcakes during the blood drive. Jesse Mae has been a long-time blood drive volunteer and we love her very much. She is such a special lady!
Thank you, Vickie Bennett of New York Life/VHB Financial, a second-time sponsor, for sponsoring this month’s blood drive.
Next month’s blood drive is scheduled on Tuesday, May 14, at Rotary Field in the John D. Hooker Memorial Building from 11 a.m to 5 p.m.
Give blood…….. Give life. Make a difference in your life as well as others in need.
Thank you again, Patrick County, for making the April blood drive a success.
