The former 58 Grill, complete with its “Fride Chicken” sign, was once a popular Sunday destination for Patrick County residents. David Woodall, a Patrick native and former resident, shared that back when Patrick County did not allow beer sales on Sunday, residents would drive over the Henry County line to the 58 Grill to purchase beer because that was the closest place that sold it. “People were parked on the side of the road on Sunday down there,” he said with a chuckle. The grill went out of business around the same time Route 58 was widened to four lanes, he added. (Photo by David Woodall).
