A firehouse primary will be held on Saturday, June 1, to nominate the Republican candidate for the Mayo River District seat on the Patrick County Board of Supervisors.

The primary will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Department, which is located at 3125 County Line Road, Patrick Springs.

Three will participate in the primary: Vance Agee, Michael Gravely and C. “Clayton” Kendrick, Jr. Each has said they will support the winner, who will go on to challenge incumbent Lock Boyce in the Nov. 5 election.

All legal and qualified voters of the Mayo River District “who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election,” may participate, according to a release.
