Thyra Yates Biggs, 84, of Stuart, VA passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Sovah Hospital in Martinsville, VA. She was born in Patrick County on July 2, 1940, to the late Edna Joyce Yates and George Cabel Yates. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sister, Pauline Clark, two brothers, Robert Yates and Claude Yates.

She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and worked as a teacher in the public school system for twenty years. She was a probation and parole officer for seven years, Counselor Virginia Employment office thirteen years, United Methodist minister’s wife for forty-three years, active motorcycle rider, loved camping and square dancing, traveled all 48 states, a people person, fun loving, active member of Providence United Methodist Church, spirit filled and loved everyone. She was the heart of the family and expressed a life of joy to us all.

She is survived by her husband, Norman Biggs of the home, daughter Yolanda Biggs Coleman (Dale) of Martinsville, VA, son, Nathan Ray Biggs of Dublin, VA, two grandchildren, Christopher Steven Gravley and Aaron Anderson Biggs.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 3:00pm at Norris Funeral Services Chapel in Stuart, VA. with Reverend Keith Vernon officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 pm to 3:00pm at Norris Funeral Services Chapel.

Memorials maybe made to Providence United Methodist Church Ministries c/o 1021 Providence Drive, Patrick Springs, VA, 24133.
