Hello Patrick,
Can you believe it’s already the final week of September? The month seemed to fly by! But now, October is just around the corner, ready to take its turn for the year. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, Fall officially began at 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, and it was a beautiful day!
I am still thinking about the Fair! It was a great success, thanks to the Rotary Team, despite a delayed start due to rain on Tuesday. We appreciate their hard work putting on such a fantastic event for the county.
This week, we’ll promote tourism at the International Bluegrass Music Awards in Raleigh, N.C. We’re working with the Virginia Tourism Cooperation and multiple counties in Southwest Virginia – Blue Ridge Highlands Districts to showcase everything our county offers. From primitive camping to 5-star luxury and various musical venues along the Crooked Road, we have something for everyone.
We hope to welcome more visitors to events like the PCMA gathering, Willis Gap Community Center Jams, Stable Saloon (Primland) events, and more.
Before I go, I want to remind everyone about the “Country Under the Stars” concert this weekend at Dominion Valley Park, featuring Michael Ray Fain and many others. As a special offer, I will give two tickets to the first person who comes to the visitor center and says, “I read the tourism article in the paper; I want to claim the tickets, and they will be yours!”
Check out our websites for more details on everything happening in the county. As October approaches, we have an incredible number of events planned, so be sure to clear your schedule and “Find Yourself Here”!
I’ll be in touch soon.
Best regards,
James Houchins,
Director of Tourism (jhouchins@co.patrick.va.us)
