Hi Patrick County,

It’s hard to believe that July is already coming to an end. The month has flown by with so many exciting events taking place. One highlight for me was attending the Kibler Valley River Run, hosted by the Red Bank Ruritan Club. It was an amazing experience to witness hundreds of kayaks racing down the river. If you missed it this year, I highly recommend that you make plans to attend next year’s event.

As we approach the end of July, I wanted to mention a couple of upcoming events. On July 29th, the Rotary Club is hosting an Uptown Cruise on Main Street, featuring a live performance by Whiskey Rebellion. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a National Night Out Celebration on August 1st, with a free concert by Olivia Jo at the Gazebo in DeHart Park. We would love to see you there and please feel free to let us know about your own events, so we can post them on our website. Email me at jhouchins@co.patrick.va.us.

Lastly, I want to remind you that there is always something happening in our community. Whether it’s the weekly music at the Willis Gap Community Center or the Tuesday Morning Jams at the Coffee Break, there is always fun, food, and fellowship to be had. So, join us. “Come Get Lost and Find Yourself Here.”

James Houchins,

Director of Tourism
