The Patrick County High School Track and Field team traveled to Radford High School last weekend. Performing well, the team used this meet as a large step forward, excited to see all the hard work pay off.

Just a few of the results from the meet for the girls include the 100m, in which Autumn Hubbard finished 14th with a time of 14.08 and 9th in the 200m with a 29.30. In the 400m, Armonte Carter finished 12th with a 1:07.62. In the 800m, Macie Rogers came in third with a time of 2:30.48. Arielle Taylor ran the 1600m in 6:32, coming in 20th.

The relay team came in fifth with a time of 4:59.77 in the sprint medley relay. Reanna Carico placed eighth in the discus finals with a 98′-6″. In shot put, Meagan Carico placed 9th with a 31′-9″.

For the guys, Kristian Reynolds finished the 800m in 2:10.55 to place 9th overall and came in 8th in the 1600m in 4:52.12. Monroe Morse finished the 3200m with a time of 10:44.48, placing 9th.

In a competitive sprint medley relay, the team finished in second with a time of 4:00.

“What I was most proud of was how many new personal records were set on both sides. Consistency and mental toughness were definitely keys to their success,” Coach Lynne Deckel stated. “Everyone was able to stay competitive even when they weren’t necessarily around any competition. This was especially true in both the sprint medley relays, where both genders were able to win their heat and run a fast enough time to beat teams in the second heat. Everyone’s tenacity and drive is relentless and it’s exciting to see so many great results because of it.”
