, affectionately known as “Beefy” to most, was a loving husband, brother, godfather, son, uncle, great-uncle and friend. He was born February 17, 1968, to the late Deacon Dewey P. Penn, Sr. and Beatrice Naomi Penn. He transitioned to his new home on June 14, 2016, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Tracy graduated from Patrick County High School in 1986 where he was a member of the high school drama team. He learned to play the bass guitar at the age of 16 and became a guitar player for Trinity Church of the Living God.
His biggest hobbies and passions were hot rods and classic cars, which his wife shared as well. If you went to car shows, you were sure to see Tracy there.
Though Tracy had been plagued with many medical conditions throughout the years, he never chose to let them keep him down. His life was a true testimony to II Timothy 4:7 because he fought the good fight, he finished the race and he ALWAYS kept the faith.
Tracy was a member of Trinity Church of the Living God in Stuart where he was a current member of the elective deacon board and Trinity’s representative for the Lord’s Acre Lord’s Hour. Tracy and Melissa were also greeters at the Reynolds Homestead for the Black History Program.
Tracy was preceded in death by his father, Deacon Dewey Penn Sr.; a brother, John Clifton Penn; a sister, Melissa Anne Penn; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Rosa Lee Penn; and maternal grandparents, Sam Will and Ida B. Penn.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 21 years, Melissa Goins Penn; his mother, Beatrice Penn; godchildren, Megan and Will Greene; one sister, Nancy (Willie) Greene; four brothers, Dewey Penn Jr. (Sandra), Matthew Penn (Carole Anne), Ronald Penn (Sandy), all of Spencer, and Tony Penn (Vanessa) of Carver Road; his loyal companion, Jack; three great-nephews and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Church of the Living God with Bishop Burgie Penn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. A wake was held Friday evening at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
