Training classes have been scheduled for those interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.

Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education (PRIDE) pre-service training will provide the information needed to make an informed decision about whether fostering/adopting is the right choice for your family, and the start of skills needed to work with children and families in the foster care system.

Virginia requires completion of pre-service training and assessment as a part of the approval process for all “resource parents’ (foster, adoptive, respite, and formal kinship care). All adult household members must complete background checks.

Training sessions will be conducted from 6 to 9 p.m. on September 8, 15, and 22; and on October 6 and 13. All sessions will be held virtually, via Zoom.

Registration is required. For more information or to register for the class, contact Ann Foley at ann.foley@dss.virginia.govv or call (276) 693-2211.
