Patrick County hosted the Chatham Cavaliers Monday, January 9, losing 30-49. Kimora Wimbush let the Cougars with 5 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 1 assist. Aniya Penn had 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Allanah Mitchell had 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist. Lilly Hazelwood had 4 points, while Journey Moore and Missy Hazard added 3 points each.
The Cavaliers jumped out to a 15-5 lead by the end of the 1st. The Lady Cougars kept the scoring close in the 2nd and 4th quarters, but the Lady Cavaliers had a big 3rd quarter as well.
“It was a really tough loss for a young squad,” said Coach Donny Rakes. “Chatham is a quality team with an exceptional player in Jakiyah Giggets. We simply had no answer for her and her 26 points. They really made an effort to stop Missy Hazard tonight with constant double teams and ball denial. We have got to be better at stepping up and taking some of the load off of her.”
