The Lady Cougars traveled to Tunstall February 1, defeating the Lady Trojans 53-18.

Aniya Penn led the Cougars with 13 points, two rebounds, one steal, and one assist.

Missy Hazard had nine points, two rebounds, two steals, and three assists.

Samantha Harris had seven points, four rebounds, one steal, and two assists.

It was, “a good team win for our group. Ten of our kids on the roster scored, and everyone played about the same number of minutes, and that is always a good thing,” said Coach Donny Rakes, adding the team had “a solid defensive effort in the half court.”

The Cougars traveled to GW Danville February 4, where Samantha Harris led the Cougars with 13 points, four rebounds, one steal, and three assists.

Aniya Penn had 11 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and one assist.

“It’s a tough loss for our young team. We simply did not meet their intensity in the first quarter, and we paid for it. We were down 15-2 to start the game and spent all the energy we had to come back and tie them late in the game,” Rakes said. “We just dug too big a hole to recover from. Credit to GW. They deserved to win the game tonight.”
