Varsity Volleyball teams win at home against GW.

The Patrick County Varsity Volleyball team defeated the visiting GW Danville Eagles in straight sets 25-13, 25-18. 25-10. The first set was tied at 9-9 when the Cougars rallied to take over the game. The Cougars jumpedt to a 10-5 and won the next set fairly easily. The Cougars were only up 11-9 against the Eagles but only allowed 1 point in cruising to a 25-10 victory in the final set. Caroline Vernon had 16 aces and 3 kills. Ashlee Mesot had 8 aces and 10 assists. Savannah Roberts had 6 kills and 2 aces. Izzy Beasley had 2 kills, 3 blocks and 4 aces. Head Coach Heidi Moore felt the team was “rusting at times,” but got “better thoughout the night.” She also felt the team is improving over the course of the season. Star player Izzy Beasley alos felt the team was getting ‘ alot better” and that all the players were working hard to improve. She also said that the team “has a lot of talent ” and needs to get “more mentally tough”as the season contiunes. The JV team won in two sets-25-6 and 25-7. Mackenzie Belcher, Elleigh Large, and Samantha Harris all had 7 aces. Lainie Hopkins had 9 assists and Elleigh Large had 3 kills.
