Drivers should expect lane closures on a section of eastbound U.S. 58 near its intersection with Virginia 697 (Midway Road) in Patrick County due to roadway repairs following a tractor-trailer fire that occurred on June 24.

The truck caught fire about eight miles east of Patrick Springs and six miles west of Spencer.

Weather permitting, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will schedule work starting the week of June 29 to remove and replace damaged pavement.

Paving will occur in the eastbound right and left lanes of U.S 58 and the right turn lane at Virginia 697.

The right lane of eastbound U.S 58, near Virginia 697, is currently closed. Drivers should expect alternating lane closures during daytime hours.

Weather permitting, repairs are expected to be completed before the July 4th holiday.
