Vergie Gammons Crowe, 92, of Bassett, died Monday, September 26, 2016, at Stanleytown Health and Rehab.
She was born April 9, 1924, in Patrick County, and was a daughter of the late William Zachriah and Gatha Bowman Gammons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernice Jacob Crowe Sr. in 1997; five brothers, Buford, William, John, Foster, and Junior Gammons; and four sisters, Ida White, Lois Kendrick, Clara Hawks, and Nancy Jane Craig.
She was a member of Sanville Assembly of God Church, attended the former Red Bank School in Patrick Springs, and retired from Fieldcrest Mills with over 45 years of service.
She is survived by her son, B.J. Crowe of Bassett; her daughter, Lynnette Williams of Bassett; one brother, Glen Gammons of Collinsville; two sisters, Nannie Sue Bowman of Collinsville and Shirley Underwood of Ridgeway; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Thursday in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Alvin Joe Nunley officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
