obit-cornsCatherine Dillon Corns, age 92, of Stuart, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016, at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart.
She was born in Patrick County on February 22, 1924, and was a daughter of the late Jesse James Dillon Sr. and Ocie Ann Gilley Dillon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elder Leonard J. Corns; a daughter, Ernestine Goad; two sisters, Mary Joyce and Barbara Dillon; and three brothers, Hardin Dillon, Jesse J. Dillon Jr. and George William Dillon.
She was a member of Old Spoon Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who would do anything for anybody, and who was loved by all who knew her. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Leo Rakes of Woolwine, Julia and F. Preston Tilley of Lottsburg, Jerlene and Terry Tilley of Stuart, and Pamela Goforth of Raleigh, N.C., and Fred Goad of Hillsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Leonard J. Corns Jr. and Regina of Archer, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Lee Plasters of Critz, Frances and Harold Richardson of Patrick Springs, Bessie Turner of Bassett, Shirley Roark of Spencer; one brother, Frank Dillon of Stuart; three sisters-in-law, Jane Ferris of Danville, Dora Dillon of Stuart and Ila Dillon of Patrick Springs.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, October 5) at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elders Donnie Conner and Lewis Vass officiating. Burial will follow in Old Spoon Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
If desired, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
