Visitors to the Reynolds Homestead can once again safely access the historic Rock Spring thanks to a new bridge built by volunteers.
The Reynolds Homestead thanked Della and Ricky Carter, Diane Poeske and Kevin Reynolds for constructing the bridge, which replaces one built in 2008 by Daniel Reynolds as his Eagle Scout service project. Daniel is Kevin Reynolds’ son and a member of Boy Scout Troop 69.
The original bridge was damaged over the years by floods and storms and was no longer safe to use.
Members of the Rock Spring Plantation Descendants Committee, Della Carter, Poeske and Kevin Reynolds wanted the bridge completed in time for the upcoming Juneteenth Freedom Celebration so visitors could once again reach the spring, which historically provided water for those who lived on Rock Spring Plantation.
