Volunteers met for the first group clean up on Saturday, August 15 with the plan to pick up trash in various areas in town.

This event was hosted by the Patrick County Greenteam, which is an anti litter campaign. The Rotary Club of Stuart in collaboration with Dan River Basin Association, Patrick County Tourism, Patrick County Chamber of Commerce, and the Patrick County High School Interact Club created the team.

A total of 25 volunteers participated in the first event and collectively picked up 400 pounds of trash after working for two hours.

Special vests were worn and orange bags were given out to volunteers. Some roads that were in the plans included Woodland Drive, Commerce Street, Route 58, and Route 8.
