Mr. Winfield Gammons, age 90 of Stuart, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection. He was born in Patrick County on February 11, 1935, to the late Jessie James Gammons and Susie Goins Gammons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, David, Frank, Blaine, William, and Herbert Gammons. Winfield enjoyed playing guitar, singing, being outdoors, watching NASCAR, and driving his pick-up truck. He was an avid Duke fan and quick-witted with a great sense of humor that he held onto until the very end. He frequented W & W Produce, where he enjoyed telling tales, eating a sandwich, and drinking a Mt. Dew. He was a dedicated family man, and taking care of his family was a top priority. The joy of his life was his granddaughter, Allison. He said they were tighter than the bark on a tree and he was to be her ring bearer at her upcoming June wedding. Papa will be looking down from Heaven and have the best view of her special day.

Left to cherish the memories of Winfield Gammons are his devoted wife of 63 years, Elaine Fain Gammons of the home; son, Mark Gammons (Tammy) of Stuart; granddaughter, Allison Gammons (fiancé, Luke Fox) of Stuart; sister, Ruby Layman of Patrick Springs; several in-laws, nieces and nephews; and grand dog, Milo.

The funeral for Mr. Gammons will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Shaun Draughn and Pastor Wendell Terry officiating. The burial will immediately follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.

The Gammons family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses, nurse aides, therapists, and staff of Blue Ridge Therapy Connection for all the tender care given.
