Winners of 4-H presentations announced

Thirty-six students entered the 2020 Patrick County 4-H County Speech/Presentation Contest on Friday, Feb. 7 at Patrick Henry Community College in Stuart.

Overall winners in grades 4 through 7 were chosen to move up to Area Competition to be held in Pulaski County on May 4th and will compete with students from Floyd, Giles, Montgomery and Pulaski counties.

Fourth grade winners

Fourth grade students moving on to area contest in the personal narrative category include Meredith Wood, 1st place, (Meadows of Dan Elementary); Josiah Shelor, 2nd place, (Meadows of Dan Elementary) and alternate Scarlett Gregory and Alexa Rivero (Stuart Elementary).

Fifth grade winners

Fifth grade students moving on to area contest competing in persuasive speech include Noah Becker, 1st place, (Stuart Elementary); Sierra Easter, 2nd place, (Blue Ridge Elementary) and alternate Cameron Rakes (Stuart Elementary).

Sixth grade students moving onto area contests in the How-To category include Callie Wood, 1st place, (Meadows of Dan Elementary); Kathryn Wood, 2nd place, (Meadows of Dan Elementary) and alternate Gracie Marshall (Woolwine Elementary).

Seventh-grade students to compete in area contests in the Research Presentation include Emma Buchanan, 1st place, (Hardin Reynolds Memorial); Daryl Lynn Combs, 2nd place, (Stuart Elementary); Abbie Knight, alternate, (Hardin Reynolds Memorial); Seth Geiger (Hardin Reynolds Memorial); Jymasia Manns (Hardin Reynolds Memorial), Riley Hodges (Hardin Reynolds Memorial); Caleb Geiger (Hardin Reynolds Memorial); Josiah Spangler (Hardin Reynolds Memorial); Keirstyn Pate (Hardin Reynolds Memorial); Whitley Kruse (Woolwine Elementary); Kameryn McMilliam (Woolwine Elementary) and Vishal Samosandra (Stuart Elementary).

Senior student presentation participants and 1st place to compete in area contest is Savannah Brown.

Students participating in the fourth-grade personal narrative category included Josiah Shelor, Meredith Wood, Evan Kruse, Owen Kruse, Cole Coffey, Alexa Rivero, and Scarlett Gregory.

Fifth grade students participating in the persuasive speech category included Noah Cain, Sierra Easter, Lilly Kelly, Cameron Rakes, Noah Becker, Bristol Goad, Mason Cassell, and Michael Swick.

‘How-To’ presentation winners

How-To PowerPoint Presentation participants included Elise Farmer, Claire Gallop, Angel Plaster, Marisa Hylton, Kathryn Wood, Callie Wood, Vishal Samosandra, Gracie Marshall, and Novella Nester.

Research presentation winners

Research presentation participants included Emma Buchman, Seth Geiger, Jymasia, Abbie Knight, Riley Hodges, Caleb Geiger, Josiah Spangler, Keirstyn Pate, Whitley Kruse, Kameryn McMilliam, Daryl Lynn Combs.

Judges this year included Sandra Heath, Phyllis Eastridge, Teresa Rakes, Judy Lacks, Betsy Clark, Barbara Pendleton, Ann Belcher, and Joanne Hill.
