A Meadows of Dan woman has been arrested for assaulting a law enforcement officer, according to Sheriff Dan Smith.
Smith said that Deputy Chase Meredith conducted a traffic stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Patrick County at 2:03 a.m. Saturday morning.
Meredith found Crystal Gayle Hough, 29, to be the operator of the vehicle. Smith said that Hough became verbally abusive and physically resistant when Meredith attempted to place her under arrest for third offense of driving on a revoked operator’s license and possession of marijuana.
Hough allegedly spit on the side of Meredith’s head as he was trying to secure her in the back of his patrol car.
Hough is currently being held without bail in the Patrick County Jail.
