L.H. “Piggy” Mabe, Jr, 84, of Patrick Springs, Va passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Stanleytown Health Care. He was born in Patrick County on December 6, 1939, to the late Dovie Plaster Mabe and Luther Harold Mabe. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Inez Cauley and Shirley Haden.

He attended Patrick Springs Holiness Church, was a member of Patrick Springs Volunteer Fire Department. L.H. Mabe was a quiet man until he caught the big one, he loved to pier fish with his sister Margaret and husband G.C. He didn’t get to fish a lot in his younger years, but spent all of his time getting fish hooks out of trees with his sons. He was a first-class carpenter and help build a lot of homes in Patrick Springs. He probably painted the Blue Ridge Nursing home three times. He never met a stranger and the people who knew him will surely miss a fine friend and neighbor. L.H. is the kind of person who would do anything for you. He probably never got a speeding ticket.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Mabe of the home, two sons, Dean Mabe of Stuart, VA, Brian Mabe (Kelly) of Claudville, Va, three sisters, Margaret Hylton (GC) of Patrick Springs, VA, Iris (Sug) McNeil both of Patrick Springs, VA, Lorene Wood of Martinsville, VA, one brother Ronnie Mabe (Barbara) of Stuart, VA

A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Norris Funeral Services Chapel in Stuart with Greg Martin officiating.

Burial will follow at Patrick Memorial Gardens in Stuart, VA.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm.
