This year’s race was held on Saturday, February 23rd. The weather had been a concern all week leading up to the race.  Saturday morning runners arrived to cold heavy rain. However, they were troopers and knew they were running for a good cause. When the horn sounded, participants left the starting block and headed for the highs and lows of the streets of Stuart. The event that was hosted by Caring Hearts Free Clinic for the sixth consecutive year and proved, once again, to be a success.

Crossing the 5K finish line in spectacular fashion were Overall Winner and first place male, Monroe Morse; first place female, Sara Harmon; second place male, Seth Wright; second place female, Emily Turner; third place male, RJ Scott; third place female, Tracy Key; Men’s Masters Winner, Mark Joyce, and Women’s Masters Winner, Tammy Quesenberry.

Age group winners include, age 14 and under, Collin Rakes; age 20-29, Eli Roberson; age 30-39, Danielle Puckett; age 50-59 male, Rodney Holt; age 50-59 female, Teresa Martin; age 60-69, Marie Haynes, and

age 70 and older, Pete Haynes.

Sweetheart awards went to first place runners Pete and Marie Haynes; second place runners; Rodney and Debora Holt; and third place runners Amber and Collin Rakes.

This year, runners received a T-shirt, ear band, and tote bags along with other items donated by the sponsors. Raffle prizes were donated by area businesses.

Caring Hearts Free Clinic extends their gratitude to everyone involved in making this event a success – without the support of sponsors, our Board of Directors, volunteers, local businesses, Outdoor Entertainment, and Kim Rakes — the event would not have been possible. Thank you for your continued support as we work to serve the medically uninsured residents of Patrick County who are 300 percent or below the Federal Poverty Level.  A special thank you to Rebecca Adcock for all the hard work put forth towards planning this event.
