The Patrick County High School Wrestling Team started their season off 3-0, with 3 victories in their first quad meet of the year on December 3.
The Cougars defeated Floyd County 36-24, Radford 48-36, and Carroll County 42-39. They have won the District Championship the last 3 seasons and are gunning for their 4th.
“This was a good start but we have a long way to go,” the coaching staff said. “We are young this year with only 2 seniors and 3 juniors. We are starting 7 freshmen and sophomores and trying to get everyone in the right weight classes as we move through the first part of the season. Right now, we are having to forfeit 3 weight classes, which puts us at a disadvantage. Hopefully as the season progresses, we will get everyone in their right weight class and improve with mat time.”
Ben Knight, Landon Moles, Logan Rakes, and Josh JImrusti all started their season off 3-0 on the night. These guys along with a few others are expected to do big things for the Cougars this season if they continue to work hard and improve as they move through the season.
