The Landmark Center in Stuart will be hosting “Why Hospice? Why Now?” in its community room at noon on Wednesday, June 17, according to community relations director Lisa Martin.
“Many people have such misunderstandings about all that hospice does and can do, not just for a patient, but for families and caregivers, too,” said Martin. “This program will not only dispel myths about what hospice is and who it serves, it will also shed light on many of the new benefits offered to families.”
Nellie Vernatter, Senior Hospice Liaison for Amedisys Hospice, will be the featured speaker for the Lunch and Learn.
Vernatter will cover topics including the benefits of hospice, palliative vs. hospice care, compassionate family support, and she will be available to answer any questions that attendees may have.
Lunch is provided for this event, and there is no charge to attend. “Programs offered for the community are part of the Landmark’s mission to be a resource of information on senior care,” Martin said.
Anyone wishing to attend the June 17 program should call the Landmark at 276-694-3050 to register. “Walk-ins, of course, are welcome,” said Martin, “but a heads-up that you’re attending helps us plan for the delicious lunch we are preparing.”
The program begins at noon.
