The Patrick County Community Food Bank is busy this month thanking donors for food and monetary donations. The holiday months of November and December are especially hectic for the organization.

In December, “we received some special help from Mrs. Helen Holt’s class at PCHS. This group, along with their sponsors, Mrs Holt, Mrs. Kayla Corns and Mr. Tony Moseley, helped us to pack 450 boxes of non-perishable food items on December 13,” according to a release.

On December 19, food bank volunteers arrived at Stuart Elementary School. The Wildcats had held their annual food drive and donated 2,700 pounds of food and $302 for the local food bank. They also helped food bank volunteers load the food.

Also, that day, “we received a visit at the Food Bank from the janitorial staff at Patrick County High School. These workers brought us donations that had been accepted at the high school in response to their food drive,” the release stated.

“In our little community, we are proud that our students are getting involved in giving back. It is never too early to teach your children the importance of giving to those less fortunate than yourselves,” the release stated. “I urge any other schools to implement a yearly food drive such as the one completed by Stuart Elementary. THANK YOU ALL for your support of the Patrick County Community Food Bank.”
