Fairley Gene Keith went home to be with his Savior on January 9, 2023, at age 79. He was born to the marital union of Mr. Una Ray Keith and Mrs. Ida Ethyl Boyd in Floyd County, Virginia on March 6, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years, Janet Arlene Keith, eight brothers and two sisters. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Carol Keith, son and daughter-in-law Brent and Melissa Keith, and granddaughters, Emily and Hannah Keith.

Gene was a commercial truck driver by trade, retiring from Roadway Express after 35 years of service. He enjoyed playing acoustic guitar and listening to Bluegrass music. Although Gene was a quiet and humble man, he set a personal example and expressed his love to his family and of God through his hard work and acts of selfless giving. He provided emotional support, financial support, and time transporting family members to medical and other appointments. He provided the same to others who expressed a need without expectation of repayment. He anonymously contributed to numerous Christian charity organizations and did everything he possibly could to make the lives of his children and grandchildren more comfortable and secure than his own. He gave sacrificially, and in reflection of the one he entrusted both his earthly and eternal life to, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. He is now assuredly with his Savior and has been reunited with Arlene.

Gene was a regular and beloved attendee of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Claudville, Virginia. A graveside service to honor his memory will be held at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Cemetery on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Kevin Easter will be officiating the service. Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
