obit-bowling-betsyBetsy Ruth Williams Bowling, age 85, of Stuart, died Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart.
She was born in Patrick County on May 12, 1931, and was a daughter of the late Virgil R. and Lowell Conner Williams. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Bowling; and four brothers, Richard, Lane, Dorn and Billy Williams.
She was a member of Bouldin Memorial Presbyterian Church and had been the owner/manager of the Ben Franklin Store on Main Street in Stuart for over 20 years.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Rita Bowling of Stuart, Brent and Cheryl Bowling, and Kim and Glenna Bowling, all of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one daughter, Robin Bowling of Stuart; six grandchildren, Corey Bowling, Jamey Bowling, Christy Sutton, Dana Bowling, Ashley Nogueira and Brooke Wexler; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Chris Williams, Buddy Williams, Mica Williams and Gary Williams, all of Stuart; three sisters, Sue Griffith of Boones Mill, Carol Vernon of Stuart and Sherry Meng of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Jim Churchwell officiating. Burial was in Patrick Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cpl. Jonathan W. Bowling Scholarship Fund, c/o Patrick Henry Community College, 645 Patriot Avenue, Martinsville, Va., 24112.
