Betty Sue Ervin Roberson

Betty Sue Ervin Roberson, age 91, of Stuart, and formerly of Blowing Rock, NC, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023. She was born April 25, 1931, to the late Thomas Roy and Alma Cannon Ervin. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Ray Warden Roberson, Sr., one son, Kyle Thomas Roberson, two granddaughters, Allyson Rae Hoback and Amy Lynn Roberson, and a half-sister, Caroline Niedospial of Allentown, PA.

She is survived by four sons, Ray Warden Roberson, Jr., and wife Catherine, Larry Alan Roberson and wife Karen, Joel Bruce Roberson and wife Traci, and Daniel Ervin Roberson, all of Stuart; one daughter, Deborah Roberson Hoback and husband David, of Stuart; nine grandchildren, Hera Roberson, Ashley Roberson, Riley Roberson (Kristen),  Landon Roberson, Travis Roberson (Jamie), Hayley Richards (Eric), Aaron Hoback, Daniel Bowman, and Wesley Roberson; one step-granddaughter, Casey Nowlin (Courtney); three great-grandchildren, Derek Camden Roberson, Karter Roberson, Magnolia Roberson; one step-great-grandson, Trae Nowlin.  She is also survived by one sister, Vivian Ervin Aldridge of Stanley, NC; two sisters-in-law, Willodean Roberson and Frances Roberson; one brother-in-law, Johnnie B. Roberson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was employed as a legal secretary in the office of Attorney Martin F. Clark for approximately twenty-five years and as a medical transcriptionist for Drs. Massie, Cole, Flowers, and Kipreos for approximately ten years. She taught Sunday School at Stuart Baptist Church for over twenty years and was a current member and trustee of Stuart Primitive Baptist Church, where she served as Church Clerk for fifteen years. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano and was a voracious reader.

Funeral services will be held at Moody Funeral Home, Stuart, VA on February 11, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is serving the Roberson family, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
