A resolution for the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT’s) Smart Scale program for sidewalks in Stuart will be among the items considered Monday, July 13, when the Patrick County Board of Supervisors meet.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Patrick County Administration Building, on Rucker Street in Stuart.

The board also may schedule a public hearing for a Smart Scale project on Salem Highway and Ashby Drive, according to its agenda.

Smart Scale is a method of scoring planned projects through an objective, outcome-based process that is transparent to the public and allows decision-makers to be held accountable to taxpayers. Once projects are scored and prioritized, the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) has the best information possible to select the right projects for funding.

In addition, supervisors are expected to consider a local option Sales Tax as well as a proposal to install a new heating and air (HVAC) system to the 911 facility on Bull Mountain and a COVID-19 ordinance to continue operations associated with the pandemic.

The board may meet in closed session to discuss personnel, legal, contract or real estate matters.

Comments for the public comment period may be emailed to awalker@co.patrick.va.us or ghazelwood@co.patrick.va.us. A call-in number – (276) 806-2837 is available.

The meeting will be live streamed on the Friends of Patrick County Tourism Facebook page.
