The Patrick County High School Building Trades program is proud to announce that 31 students have completed the OSHA 10-hour Construction Course.
The Career Safe Program is to teach younger workers how to start safe and stay safe in the workplace and begin to prepare these young men and women for a safe and prosperous future in the construction field or any chosen career. By providing entry level workers with fundamental; safety knowledge needed in the workplace, this program is bringing the significance of safety to the forefront.
“The Career Safe Program is great for students by providing them with the safety training they will need to compete for jobs in the future, not just in construction, but in any career they choose,” said Philip Steagall, PCHS building trades instructor.
Students benefit in completing the program by learning a safety mindset and learning valuable skills for the future. They receive a certificate of completion with a wallet card to demonstrate to employers that they have received the basic training needed in the workplace and become more employable, gaining a competitive advantage in the job market.
The Career Safe Program and the OSHA credentials that accommodate it fit perfectly into Career and Technical Education. It is on the leading edge of online, interactive technology that inspires interest in the subject matter and keeps students engaged in learning the importance of occupational health and safety in the current workplace and in future careers. Career Safe is about training, it’s about careers and it’s about life.
