Carter Bank & Trust’s Stuart branch is seeking the names and addresses of local veterans as part of a project to recognize their military service on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
Vice President and Branch Manager April Hall said the bank plans to mail thank-you cards to as many veterans as possible as part of its commitment to giving back to the community.
“We just want to show our appreciation to our veterans for all that they do. We just wanted to send out thank you cards to as many as we can in our community to thank them for their service,” she said.
Hall said the bank also plans to set up a table honoring veterans during the week of Veterans Day.
To reach as many veterans as possible, the branch is asking community members to provide names and mailing addresses.
“Nobody really has a list of them, and that’s what I’m trying to get is as many as I can on the list to send them out,” she said.
Hall said a teacher at Patrick County High School plans to provide a list of approximately 80 veterans who graduated from the school system.
The bank hopes to mail the cards ahead of the holiday.
“Just so that they can get them in a timely manner, if at all possible,” Hall said.
The branch also is accepting donations of thank-you cards for the project. Cards may be dropped off with Hall or any employee at the Stuart office.
Residents who would like to submit a veteran’s name and mailing address may contact Hall at [email protected].
