The Patrick County Music Association (PCMA) will resume its monthly music shows Saturday, Oct. 24, following a summer break.
The show will be held in the Patrick County High School auditorium, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and music beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is by donation at the door.
PCMA President Denny Alley said the evening will feature performances by the Twin Creek String Band, a four-member group from Ferrum, and the Country Boys.
“They put on a real good show. They got a real big following, and it’s unusual that the band has two singers that are good singers. You never see that in an old-time band,” Alley said of the Twin Creek String Band.
The group performs a variety of bluegrass and country music.
“They have a big variety show,” Alley said.
The Country Boys, another longtime local favorite, also will perform.
“They’ve been around 40-something years. That’s the oldest band in the county,” Alley said.
The association also has announced its remaining shows for the year.
The annual Veterans Appreciation Show is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14, featuring Harrison Ridge, the Coffee Break Jam Band and Barry Collins & The Comptons.
Patrick County Administrator Michael McGuinness, a retired Marine, will be the special guest.
“County Administrator Michael McGuinness is going to be the special guest that night to speak to the crowd being a retired Marine. Mike’s coming to open everything up,” Alley said.
Sammy Shelor’s annual Banjorama will be held Dec. 12, featuring Starlett & The Bluegrass Knights and more than a dozen banjo players.
Concessions will be available for purchase from the Patrick County Shooting Education Team, with proceeds supporting firearm safety education for local youth.
