Claudia Ann Rogers Smith died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at her home in Mount Airy, N.C. She was 80 years of age.
In addition to her parents, Claude and Annie Anderson Rogers, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Wallace Smith; a sister, Bonnie Jean Rogers Ayers; and a brother, Richard William Rogers.
Born on March 12, 1936, she was raised in Claudville. She moved to Mount Airy after completing high school where she was last employed at Wolfe Drugs for several years until the pharmacy closed.
She was an active member of the Red Hat Splashes and former member of the Mount Airy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, serving the organization for many years. She was also active at the Northern Wellness and Fitness Center.
Surviving are her daughter, Rita Ann Smith of Banner Elk, N.C.; two brothers, Bob Rogers and Jim L. Rogers, both of Mount Airy; one sister, Gaynell Shaw of Mount Airy; sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Monday at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. Burial was at Oakdale Cemetery.
The family respectfully recommends donations be made to the Mount Airy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary (Truck Restoration Fund), 437 Rockford Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
