Sammie “Comic Book Man” Cassell, who shares his love for comics and graphic novels to students as a way to promote reading, will be at the Reynolds Homestead on August 19.

Sponsored by Wreak Havoc Productions in partnership with the Reynolds Homestead, Sammie “Comic Book Man” Cassell is BACK with another great workshop for students interested in drawing and/or writing comics.  The workshop, scheduled for August 19, is free, but space is limited to the first 20 students (ages 8-18) who register for each workshop.

Professional comic book artists and writers will be on hand to share their talents and provide help for those interested in honing their skills in writing and illustrating comic books or graphic novels. One of last year’s participants, Kayla King, has now published her own book.

The second annual event in Critz begins at 2 p.m. with a workshop for comic book writers, followed by an artist’s workshop at 3:30. Dinner is provided at 5 p.m.

Parents and friends are invited back to view the art show at 6 p.m. Students may register for one or both workshops, and dinner is open to all students who participate.

Any student – whether participating in the workshops or not – is invited to exhibit his or her comic book art during August at the Reynolds Homestead by dropping it by anytime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.,  August 1 through August 3.

For more information or to register, call the Reynolds Homestead at 276-694-7181.
