Thursday, May 18
The Vesta/Meadows of Dan Alzheimer’s Group will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. in the Vesta Community Center, located at 149 Community Lane in Vesta. The purpose of this special session is to decide on meeting times for that group.
The Patrick County Republican Committee meeting begins at 6 pm. In the Motorsports Hall of Fame Auditorium, 212 Johnson St., Stuart. Delegate Wren Williams will offer an update.

The Stuart Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Local grown items such as cool season crops will be available. Baked items, meats, eggs, coffee and more.
The Woolwine Methodist Church Food Truck will be at the Fairystone VFD from 3-5 p.m.
Saturday, May 20
The Ararat Ruritan Club will hold an Appreciation Day/Cruise-In. A day for the Ararat Community Club to express our thanks to our local first responders (EMS/Fire/Police), veterans, and community members. Hot dogs will be served during the cruise-in from 10am-2pm at the club building, located at 4711 Ararat Highway in Ararat, VA.
The Moorefield Store Community Volunteer Fire Department will hold a hamburger steak dinner from 4-7 p.m.
The Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department will hold a country breakfast from 6:30-10 a.m. Dine-in prices are $10 for an adult plate and $5 for a child plate. All take out plates are $10 each. To place an order, call (276) 930-2113.

Tuesday-Wednesday, May 23-24
The Amish community in Meadows of Dan will hold a benefit to help support their school and church, at the former Meadows of Dan Farm Service, 2934 Jeb Stuart Highway, in Meadows of Dan, starting at 4 p.m. and ending at 7 p.m. or while supplies last. The meal includes BBQ Chicken, baked beans, Amish noodles, Cole slaw, pie & ice cream. Donations will be accepted per person for the meal.
An auction also begins at 5 p.m. and includes items that have not been cataloged since the group purchased the former tractor building. The auction continues Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., and features items that have been cataloged. Food will be available for purchase that day as well, including hamburgers, hot dogs, and fresh cut French fries.

The Meadows of Dan High School Alumni meeting and covered dish will be held at the Meadows of Dan Elementary School cafeteria. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the covered dish dinner will start at 6 p.m. with the meeting to follow. Alumni and anyone that attended Meadows of Dan school are welcome to attend. The Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard, American Legion Post 105 and the VFW Posts in Patrick Springs and Meadows of Dan will hold a Memorial Day celebration at the Gazebo in DeHart Park at 3 p.m. All veterans and their families and the general public are invited to attend. People should bring their own chairs.

The Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Department will hold a hamburger steak dinner fundraiser from 4-7 p.m. The meal will include a hamburger steak, slaw, baked beans, roll, dessert, and a drink for $10. The meals can be eat-in or take out. To place an order, call (276) 629-7677.

The Patrick County Alzheimer’s Group LLC will meet at 7 p.m. in the basement of Hill Tax Service in Stuart. At this meeting the group will begin holding free monthly seminars that aim to inform and equip relatives of those suffering with Alzheimer’s and other caregivers.
